What prop for R207 with 200hp?

Recommended Posts

Just got delivery of my R207 with the 200 Yamaha.  43MPH top speed.  Looks loke wrong prop installed by dealer.

Anyone know the recommended pitch?

Thanks

I'd call Ken at https://propgods.com/ . He's the best I know at prop selection. I'd agree you have a problem as I could get to 42 with my 150. Engine height is another consideration and this chart might help you to see if that was set correctly: http://features.boats.com/boat-content/files/2016/01/progressive-engine-height.jpg

My R-200 runs about 43 by GPS with my 150 Yamaha @ about 5800 rpm.

It has a 17 pitch Yamaha prop.

You might find these threads interesting. First one is the R227 and same engine. Second is the same engine. Most seem to agree that the yam 200xb likes the reliance series prop. Also, make sure you use 89 octane. I agree with FullThrottle though. Get in contact with Ken at Propgods and he'll get you dialed in. He helped me dial in my last boat. Great guy.

I'm in a similar situation. I just purchased the R200 w/ a 140 Suzuki. First trip out I knew performance was way below what I expected. My first thought was that they had installed the wrong prop. I posted over on http://bandofboaters.com and Ken from prop gods looked over the data I put together. He noticed right away that my WOT fuel consumption was low, 8 GPH vs. the 12 GPH that I should be burning. Hopefully it is just a quick adjustment to the throttle linkage to get the performance where I need it to be.

I mention all this because I'm not sure the dealer always gets everything set correctly. What is your WOT RPM? Fuel Consumption? Does the boat plane quickly?

And definitely contact Ken.

My new R207 w/Yamaha 200 came from the factory with a Yamaha Reliance (SDS) 14 1/4" 17-M prop. Mine easily does 48 MPH.
